John Henry Newman’s birthday falls on February 21. He was born in London in 1801. As we celebrate his birthday we recall that he was very gifted writer and preacher. As an Anglican and later a Catholic many persons went to hear his sermons and were edified by them.

Here is a link to his sermon “Christ Upon the Waters” which was preached October 27, 1850, for the installation of Dr. William Ullathorne as first Bishop of Birmingham. There are two parts to his sermon.
